Purple Plum Eyes

Purple Purple Purple!!!! If I could think of a color to describe myself, it would have to be purple. It has been a complete color domination pretty much my whole life. From my clothes, to wallets, purses, shoes, I mean the list is endless. Even my wedding colors were purple and pink, but when it comes to makeup my obsession came to an abrupt stop pretty early in the game. Since I started getting into makeup, and started visiting my local Mac counter at International Mall in Miami, I noticed that my eyes were more sensitive to some colors more than others, but it wasn't until many years later when I first started working in cosmetics that I realized how bad it actually was.

I had been working as an "on staff" freelancer covering the YSL counter back in 2011 for just a couple of months when I decided to have a purple day. When I say purple, I mean PURPLE! I don't know about now, but back then YSL had the most beautiful purple eyeshadows, liners, mascaras you could dream of, so I went all out. I used all of them! By the end of the day my eyes were bothering me, but I didn't think much of it. The next morning...I have no words to describe the kind of red they were. It was a mixture between Zombie apocalypse meets Vampire Diaries. I couldn't understand why? So talking to the professionals around me, I came to realize that it is actually very common, the culprit was the red dye. Specifically an ingredient called Carmine, also known as Crimson lake, Cochineal, and a couple more. Some shades are better than others, some brands are better than others, so I always have to be very careful with what I play with, but I wanted to show you this look because it's just one of those that looks good on everybody and it's very easy to replicate.
